The post

The College wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate/Fellow to participate in a project to develop image-driven subject-specific spine models. The project aims to develop and test an image-driven approach for modelling and predicting spinal forces in vivo.

This EPSRC funded post, is available from 01 October 2021 to 30 September 2024. The successful applicant will be part of the Exeter based Biomedical Physics and Biomedical Engineering groups who are working in collaboration with the Biomedical Engineering group at Cardiff University.

The post will require you to prepare in vitro specimens, perform mechanical testing, assist with magnetic resonance imaging, analyse data, and contribute to dissemination, impact activities and public engagement.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or be nearing completion) or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in biomedical engineering or related field and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies. The successful applicant will also be able to work collaboratively, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required. Applicants will have experience of working with in vitro specimens and, ideally, have experience of working with magnetic resonance image data.
