Summary of the role
The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Dr Abby Russell. This National Institute for Health and Social Care (School for Public Health Research) funded post is available from 1st March 2023 - 29th February 2024. The successful applicant will work on the Supporting educational and youth organisations to deliver self-harm and suicide prevention and postvention project, based in the Children and Young People’s Mental Health Research Collaboration (ChYMe).
The post will include a broad range of required skills in both applied research and secondary data analysis, working with a colleague to; write ethics applications and obtain ethical approval, conduct and analyse a survey of schools and youth settings, conduct patient and public involvement and engagement, support the design of a school-based research project, and obtain and analyse epidemiological and trial datasets. In addition, the successful applicant will support the delivery of other related research projects managed by Dr Russell.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or be nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to work sensitively and appropriately with vulnerable young people and adults, conduct high quality mental health research, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be willing and able to learn new skills and approaches, as well as work well both independently and within a team. The project is co-led by Bristol University, and the ability to work collaboratively and effectively both online and in person is a necessary skill.
