Summary of the role

The College wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Prof Kate Ellacott. This University funded post is available from 1 March 2023. The successful applicant will support laboratory based research projects investigating the molecular and physiological mechanisms underlying the regulation of food intake and body weight by the brain.  

The post will include developing (with appropriate support) and conducting neuroendocrine research projects using pre-clinical in vitro and in vivo models. Applicants will be able to work independently, communicate and collaborate effectively with other members of the team.

About you

The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or be nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to perform aseptic cell culture, molecular biology (rtPCR, Western blotting, ELISA), histology (immunohistochemistry), and physiological studies in rodent models. Experience with neuroanatomy, RNAscope, advanced imaging, image analysis, and microscopy would be highly desirable.
