Job Type: PartTime
Deadline: 12 Dec 2021

The College of Life and Environmental Sciences

This part-time (0.6 FTE) post is available immediately on a fixed term basis until 31 August 2022.

The post

The College wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of Iain Soutar on the Net Zero Communities (NZCom) research project. This project is exploring the potential for combinations of technologies and business models to help a local community (Wadebridge and Padstow) reach net zero by 2050 while addressing the needs of vulnerable customers. This WPD funded post is available immediately until 31 August 2022.

The post will be based at The Centre for Geography, Environment and Society within the College of Life and Environmental Sciences on the Penryn Campus. The successful applicant will work with external project partners, and in particular contributing to a work package led by Exeter on the development of a set of scenarios that align with net zero ambitions while also supporting the needs of vulnerable (domestic and non-domestic) customers.

Experience of scenario analysis is desirable, but not essential. The post will primarily involve reviewing the literature on the interaction between technologies, business models and vulnerabilities, designing and facilitating stakeholder workshops, qualitative data analysis, report writing, and the documentation of methodologies.

The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
