Postdoctoral Research Associate (Laser Particle Accelerator Science) Grade 7

A Research Associate is sought to work on laser and particle beam interactions at the Cockcroft Institute of Accelerator Science and Technology. The post holder will be primarily involved in designing, planning and implementing experiments studying the interaction of high-power laser beams and charged particles, including the study of nonlinear Compton scattering and radiation reaction effects. The post holder may also carry out research in other areas of laser science applied to particle accelerators, especially in Laser Plasma Wakefield Acceleration. The post is full time and is fixed term for 6 months.

Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.
