Job description
This 2-year post-doctoral position in the laboratory of Professor Beatriz Rico is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) and will investigate how early life experience influences brain development.
The Centre for Developmental Neurobiology and MRC Centre for Neurodevelopmental Disorders are world-leading centres in the field of developmental neuroscience and brain disorders, situated in central London.
We are seeking a bright, talented and self-motivated post-doctoral researcher to join our team. Candidates should have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in Neuroscience and have strong experience with in-vivo 2-photon microscopy or electrophysiology. Experience with optogenetics, viral tracing of neural circuits, cortical electrophysiology is desirable.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake original and state of the art biomedical research as an integral member of a group working on Assembly and plasticity of inhibitory cortical networks by early learning experience.
- Breeding and maintenance of several transgenic / mutant mouse lines
- Perform in vivo experimental manipulations in postnatal mice, including in vivo viral injections, cranial windows, electrode implantations.
- Perform high quality histology, including immunostainings and confocal imaging
- Analyse confocal data by using Image J and Imaris Software.
- Use of MatLab and R to write scripts for analysis
