Updated: about 18 hours ago
Location: Liverpool, ENGLAND
Deadline: 04 May 2024

An opportunity for an exceptional researcher with experience in structure determination of new solid-state inorganic materials to lead work on materials design and discovery. We welcome applications from ambitious researchers with the skills in solution and understanding of the structures of new materials across chemistry, physics and materials science.

This position forms part of an interdisciplinary team working across physical and computer science to develop new pathways to the design and discovery of inorganic materials as part of the Leverhulme Centre for Functional Materials Design. This environment will facilitate the development of new skills and the demonstration of creativity and leadership.

Expertise in structure solution using powder X-ray diffraction-based techniques or electron microscopy methods is essential for the role, and candidates should make their relevant experience for materials discovery clear in their application.

You will have a PhD in Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science.

This post is available from 1 June 2024 until 31 May 2027.

Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30.  Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.
