About the role

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will support the Principal Investigator in delivery of research activity on the implementation of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques to develop ground-breaking computational tools for modelling coastal flooding.

Tasks will entail modelling and analysis of state-of-the art Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques to be embedded within Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software designed by our group. Of particular interest is the potential for applications to meteorological tsunami early warning in the UK and around the world.

The role is fixed term and the period of the contract will be 24 months.

About the team

This Research Project is being delivered within the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Electrical Engineering . The Department has core groups in Mathematics (Mathematics of Complex and Nonlinear Phenomena), Astrophysics (Solar and Space Physics), Statistics (Applied Statistics), Renewable Energy (Renewable Energy Technologies and Materials), Electrical Engineering (Electrical Power and Control Systems), Communications (Optical Communications Research Group) and Materials Physics (Smart Materials & Surfaces Laboratory). The department has many success stories such as:

About you 

Applicants should hold a PhD degree awarded in an area of research within Mathematics or Engineering and have demonstrable specialist expert knowledge in modelling, analysis, and optimisation of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques.
