A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available at the Queen’s University of Belfast for an AHRC-funded project on ‘Foreign, indigenous and community languages in the devolved regions of the UK: policy and practice for growth.’ The research project forms part of the AHRC Priority Area Leadership Fellowship in Modern Languages held by Professor Janice Carruthers. The postholder will carry out fieldwork interviews/focus groups which will complement the project’s existing quantitative data; and will contribute to qualitative data analysis, critical evaluation and the preparation of academic outputs.

The postholder will be mentored by Professor Janice Carruthers and will be associated with the School of Arts, English and Languages.

The successful candidate must have and your CV/Cover letter should clearly demonstrate you have:

  • Normally have, or be about to be awarded, a PhD in a relevant field.
  • At least 3 years relevant research experience (which may include doctoral study).
  • Experience of academic writing for publication.
  • Sufficient breadth and depth of knowledge in the field of language policy, and of appropriate research methods and techniques to complete the work of the project.

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
