We are seeking experienced and motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to work on Professor Sofat’s NIHR funded Research Professorship. She leads a multi-disciplinary team of clinical, data and discovery scientists working in the field of medicine and therapeutics within the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics based in the Institute of Systems, Molecular and Integrative Biology. This programme aims to develop causal inference models in observational health data including electronic health records (e.g. Clinical Research Practice Datalink) and genetic data (e.g. UK Biobank) linked to health data to inform the better use of medicines, to ensure their safe and equitable use across society. In addition to UK based data, we will seek to collaborate with international partners to use world-wide data. Techniques will include although not be limited to Target Trial Emulation and Mendelian randomisation. You will be part of a growing and dynamic team which is involved in many aspects of data science, epidemiology, statistics, pharmacology, genomics and multi-omics, as well as growing methods in advanced analytics of health data e.g. machine learning to improve human health with a focus on therapeutics. These posts will work alongside other data scientists, statisticians, clinicians, pharmacists, nurses, patients, policy makers and guideline groups, to improve outcomes for patients by contributing to making and using medicines better using a range of methods and data sources. Whilst domain expertise in health or therapeutics is not essential it is desirable but can be acquired through the post and working within this team.
If you are still awaiting your PhD to be awarded you will be appointed at Grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that you have been awarded your PhD, your salary will be increased to Grade 7, spine point 31.
