Deadline: 25 Feb 2024

We have a programme of work funded by the NIHR on causal inference in observational data sets. We have 1 PDRA position available for 5 years (Grade 7). We will be using observational data including electronic health record data e.g. the Clinical Research Practice Datalink, NHS Secure Data Environment as well as genetic data sets e.g. UK Biobank and other population based and disease cohort data sets. Within these we will begin to develop methods of causal inference with a focus on improving medicines use and/ or prioritising randomised trials. We will work with national and international colleagues and data sets to develop causal inference methods including although not limited to target trial emulation, natural experiments, difference in difference and mendelian randomisation. We welcome individuals with a diverse training background to apply e.g. epidemiology, statistics, mathematics, engineering, physics, where you can apply your knowledge to health care data.

You will have a PhD in epidemiology, statistics, mathematics, computer science, physics, engineering, data science or other relevant areas (or other equivalent qualification).

This post is fixed term until 31 January 2029.

Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30.  Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.

The University has the right to close the vacancy early if it is deemed that there have been enough applications received
