Postdoctoral Research Associate in Drosophila RNA biology

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the lab of Prof Ilan Davis to elucidate the role of post-transcriptional regulation and RNA localisation and how they are required for plasticity in the Drosophila neuromuscular synapses. The work will follow up our novel recent discoveries of localised mRNA at axon termini in the fly nervous system.


Applicants should hold a PhD/DPhil, or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil in molecular neurobiology or a related field of biology, and should have extensive experience in RNA biology. You should also have extensive knowledge of

Drosophila

genetics as well as experience with image data analysis and advanced microscopy. Ability to code in R or Python would be a strong asset. Informal enquiries are encouraged by emailing both:

This full time fixed-term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 18 months in the first instance and is based at the Department of Biochemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford.

This position is graded on the University’s grade 7 scale. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
