Postdoctoral Research Associate in determining mechanisms of chromatin inheritance

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the lab of Dr Lars Jansen to conduct collaborative research focused on understanding the role of chromatin in epigenetic memory at centromeres and heterochromatin.  The Research Associate will participate in a project to study chromatin inheritance focusing on the histone variant CENP-A at centromeres and determine the cell cycle control mechanisms in stable transmission of centromeric chromatin.

Applicants should hold a PhD/DPhil, or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil in a relevant area and have experience in the area of chromatin biology.  You will hold a competitive publication record (taking career stage into account)  and have extensive experience in the area of chromatin biology, analysis of chromatin dynamics, using genomics, ChIP-sequencing and fluorescent imaging.  You will also have experience in protein immunoprecipitation followed by quantitative mass spectrometry.  Having the ability to manage your own academic research and associated activities is essential, together with the ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and generating research income. You will also have excellent communication skills to include the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results, and represent the research group at meetings.

This full time fixed-term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 1 year in the first instance and is based at the Department of Biochemistry, South Parks Road, Oxford.

This position is graded on the University’s Grade 7 scale. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.
