Postdoctoral Research Associate in catalytic conversion of thermoplastics

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in catalytic conversion of thermoplastics to work under the supervision of Professor Edman Tsang for a period of up to 21 months.  The project involves synthesis, characterisation and testing of catalysts and is funded by SCG Chemical Group.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry or related area, (or be close to completion) prior to taking up your appointment.  The research requires experience in the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials. Experience in the use of microreactors for testing catalytic reactions, and in diffractions methods and Rietveld refinement.

You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. Adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory, South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3QR and is available from as soon as possible.
