Postdoctoral Research Associate in Advanced Materials Processing

Updated: 3 months ago
Location: Liverpool, ENGLAND
Deadline: 01 Feb 2024

A Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) position is available as part of a 4 year £1.6M UKRI Future Research Leaders Fellowship - *Smart formulations for manufacturing of functional three-dimensional hierarchical structures* (£1.6m), which Dr *García-Tuñón* holds. You will join the team working at the interface between materials, chemistry, and engineering. This is a unique opportunity to apply our research in complex fluids and advanced materials manufacturing.

You will have a PhD in Materials Science (or related discipline, e.g. chemical engineering with experience in Materials), with some experience in one or more of the following areas: advanced materials processing, ceramics or advanced functional materials, energy or bioengineering applications. Experience in direct ink writing, rheology, gels, colloids and/or other complex fluids is desirable.  Ideally, we are looking for a candidate with experience in processing of advanced materials for direct ink writing with an interest in applied functional materials for energy and health applications. Alternatively, candidates new to processing but with demonstrated experience in applications such as photocatalysts (or other energy applications), and/or tissue engineering for cartilage repair could also make a substantial contribution to the project.

The main criteria are a proven track record in a related research area, a passion for multi-disciplinary research, and a strong and proven aptitude for team working in addition to specific technical skills. To be considered for this post, you should include a cover letter that clearly sets out both your skills and your motivation.

This post is available from 1 March 2024 until 28 February 2026.

Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30.  Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.
