Updated: about 1 year ago
Location: Durham, ENGLAND
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 26 Feb 2023

A 36-month fixed-term full time post-doctoral Research Associate position is available at the Department of Psychology at Durham University, UK.

The successful candidate will join a research project led by Dr Holger Wiese in collaboration with Prof Mike Burton (York), funded by the Economic and Social Sciences Research Council. The project aims to understand the cognitive and neural underpinnings of familiar face recognition. You will combine behavioural and electrophysiological (EEG/ERP) measures to investigate how familiar faces are represented in the brain, how individual representations are organised within long-term memory, and whether EEG allows the detection of familiarity independent of the participants' ability or willingness to explicitly acknowledge it. You will have a purpose-built and fully equipped EEG lab at your disposal to develop and test novel experimental paradigms and use cutting-edge data analysis techniques. Research costs will be fully covered by the grant. You will work alongside a collaborative and dynamic team addressing complementary research questions.

The successful applicant will be expected to have a background in theoretical and empirical face perception research. Methodological experience with EEG and/or digital image manipulation techniques (morphing, averaging etc.) is desirable.
