About the Role
The role involves investigating the molecular mechanisms of fibrosis in Crohn’s disease using human-based cellular systems (cell lines and primary cell cultures). Duties comprise of experimental laboratory work and computational data analysis, including preparing cells for single cell sequencing, analysing output data from human cellular models, and identifying novel targets for therapy intervention based on epigenetic modifications.
About You
We’re seeking a researcher with understanding, technical expertise, and statistical analysis skills in cell and molecular biology, and knowledge and expertise in gene regulation. Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant field. Experience in genomics techniques (scRNA-seq and ATACC-seq) is essential. Candidates will ideally have experience in bioinformatics or willingness to learn high throughput sequencing data analysis.

The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is the largest of seven Institutes within Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London. The Institute comprises approximately 400 staff based in five academic centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute delivers excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.

The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is a full time, fixed term appointment for 6 months, available to start as soon as possible. The starting salary will be Grade 4/5, in the range of £34,220 - £44,807 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
