About the Role

The post will lead bioinformatics and mathematical modelling analyses into cancer evolution, making use of the large multi-omic datasets from colorectal cancers. This could include the development and application of population genetics theory to understand cancer genomes, including handling temporal and spatial data, deriving new insight into the genotype-phenotype mapping, and modelling tumour-microenvironment interactions.

About You

Essential requirements for this post include a PhD in a relevant quantitative or biological subject and an undergraduate degree in a quantitative or biological subject. Research experience in bioinformatics, is essential. Previous experience mathematical modelling and statistical inference, cancer evolution and population genetics would be an advantage. We are a highly interdisciplinary laboratory, and a keen desire to work in a diverse team, with a demonstrated ability to communicate well, is essential.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

The post is within the lively Evolution and Cancer laboratory, led by Prof. Trevor Graham, within the Centre for Genomics and Computational Biology, Barts Cancer Institute, QMUL. The laboratory, consisting of about 15 full time staff members, is highly interdisciplinary, bringing together expertise from diverse backgrounds including clinical medicine, mathematics, molecular biology, and zoology.

The post is based at the Charterhouse Square campus in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), fixed term appointment for 3 years, with an expected start date of Tuesday 1st June. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £34,220-£40,194 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
