Postdoctoral Research Assistant: Neurostimulation in Affective Disorders and Stroke Rehabilitation

Updated: over 1 year ago
Location: Oxford, ENGLAND
Deadline: 12 Dec 2022

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research assistant to join the newly formed Translational Neurostimulation Laboratory (TiNSL) led by Prof. Jacinta O’Shea.  The post is full time and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.

The post is for a fixed term (funded for one year in the first instance with the possibility of extension for up to three years).

You will carry out studies of human brain plasticity using learning, decision making and affective tasks in healthy volunteers and in clinical populations with stroke and affective disorders.  You will design, program and carry out experiments using a range of techniques including behavioural testing, neuroimaging (MRI and MEG) and non-invasive brain stimulation (TMS, tDCS).

You will have or be close to the completion of a PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. clinical neuroscience, psychiatry) along with an excellent academic track record including publications appropriate to career stage.   With previous experience of designing, running, analysing, interpreting and writing up experiments involving non-invasive brain stimulation, you will have excellent skills in programming (Matlab, R), statistics, computational modelling and data processing.   Experience of working with stroke survivors and conducting online behavioural experiments would be desirable.

You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement and a CV as part of your application.

The closing date for this post is 12.00 midday 12th December 2022
