Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Optical Wireless Communications

We are seeking a full-time postdoctoral researcher to join the optical wireless communications research group at the Department of Engineering Science in central Oxford. The post is funded by the EPSRC as part of the project COALESCE. The post is available immediately and is fixed-term for 24 months.

The project aims to use the National Dark Fibre Infrastructure Service (NDFIS) to connect a series of wireless communications demonstrators, with UCL, Southampton, Oxford and Cambridge Universities as partners. Our role in the project is to develop and demonstrate ultra-high data-rate optical wireless links. You will play a key role in this cutting-edge work, and be responsible for research into potential architectures and design and implementation of optical wireless links.

You should possess a doctorate in a relevant field or be near completion with skills in photonic systems research and experimentation are required, preferably in an area relevant to free-space optical communications, as well as the drive and enthusiasm to create working communications demonstrators with world-leading performance.
