An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and technically skilled researcher to join the field of LiFi/visible light communications. We are seeking a full-time postdoctoral researcher to join the optical wireless communications research group at the Department of Engineering Science in central Oxford. The post is funded by the EC as part of the H2020 project ELIOT. The post is fixed-term until 31 December 2021.
ELIOT -Enhance Lighting for the Internet of Things will bring together nine industrial partners and three Universities and research institutes, with the aim of demonstrating real-world applications of LiFi in industrial and other settings. Oxford’s role in the project is to develop new concepts for low-power high-data rate communications for the future Internet of Things. You will play a key role in this cutting-edge work, and be responsible for research into potential architectures and design and implementation of proof of concept prototypes.
You should hold a relevant PhD/DPhil or be near completion (with the possibility to underfill at Grade 6 (£28,660 - £34,189 p.a.) if candidate holds a relevant degree/Masters and is working on PhD/DPhil). Skills in photonic/optoelectronic/electronic systems research and experimentation are required, preferably in an area relevant to free-space optical communications, as well as the drive and enthusiasm to create working demonstrators with world-leading performance.
