Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Aerospace and Turbine Cooling, Flow and Heat Transfer

We are seeking a full-time postdoctoral research assistant to join the Turbine Cooling group, part of the Oxford Thermofluids Institute (OTI) at the Department of Engineering Science (Osney). The post is funded by Rolls-Royce and is fixed-term for 6 months.

The research focuses on investigating future propulsion architectures for aeroplanes that drastically reduce carbon emissions and have the potential for net-zero at point-of-use. You will be actively involved in the developing and running of experimental facilities focused on turbine cooling technology for advanced propulsion systems. Concurrently, you will be developing lower order analytical models and performing high fidelity computational simulations to corroborate experimental findings and propose other configurations not experimental investigated.

You should possess a PhD/DPhil or be near completion and possess specialist knowledge in the discipline commensurable to the institution’s reputation as well as be Well-versed in simulating fluid flows using computational fluid dynamics and in developing low order methods.
