Updated: 3 months ago
Location: Oxford, ENGLAND
Deadline: 26 Jun 2019

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Ab Initio Computational Modelling of Framework Materials to join Professor Jin-Chong Tan’s group (Multifunctional Materials and Composites Laboratory: www.eng.ox.ac.uk/tan) in the Department of Engineering Science at Oxford. The post is funded by the ERC Consolidator Grant “PROMOFS” and is fixed-term for 2 years and available immediately.

The research will focus on the photophysics and photochemistry of new sensing materials derived from porous framework materials. Materials of interests will include metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and light-emitting guest@MOF composites.

You should hold a PhD/DPhil or be near completion in computational materials/engineering/physics/theoretical chemistry or related subjects. Candidates with prior experience in the implementation of density functional theory (DFT) and ab initio molecular dynamics (MD) techniques are strongly encouraged to apply. The applicant must be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in the field of first-principles theoretical calculations to gain insights into experimental results determined.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Tan (adverts@admin.ox.ac.uk ).

You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, including a brief statement describing how past experience and future plans fit with the advertised position, CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.
