Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate in MRI physics, to work in the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre, School of Physics and Astronomy, University of Nottingham.
The role is funded as part of the Wellcome Leap In Utero Program. The overall aim of the project is to investigate measures of placental function as risk factors for predicting still birth; this is a highly interdisciplinary project involving obstetricians, engineers, biologists, mathematicians and computer scientists as well as physicists. This post relates to a work package that will be using MRI to investigate placental contractions and intra-placental flows.
The project will involve developing of MRI pulse sequences (with support) and sophisticated data analysis methods, constructing MRI compatible equipment for other work packages, undertaking MRI scanning of perfused placentas after delivery, and scanning pregnant women.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in quantitative MRI, and in experimental and computational skills.
The post is offered on a fixed term contract until 30 September 2025. Hours of work are full tim (36.25 hours per week), job share arrangements may be considered.
