A POSTDOCTORAL POSITION

for initially 1 year in zebrafish neuroscience is open at the Department of Anatomy, University of Helsinki. The start date is as soon as possible in August 2021.

The successful candidate has experience in modern imaging methods, molecular neuroscience, genome modification methods, quantitative behavioral methods, high-pressure liquid chromatography, zebrafish research, or a combination of any of these methods.

The research work will focus on zebrafish models of brain disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders, ALS, autism and schizophrenia.

The qualification requirements include an applicable doctoral degree in neuroscience, excellent command of English as well as documented research skills (i.e. scientific publications) in the expected research field. Other requirements include the ability and motivation to pursue a scientific career, as demonstrated through publications or otherwise.

The laboratory has a comprehensive phenotyping facility for high-resolution imaging, molecular and cellular biology, and quantitative behavioral analysis. The selected scientists will also participate in the service activity of the core facility maintained by the group.

Salary will be based on the University salary system, depending on the appointee’s qualifications and experience.
