The Institute of Infection, Veterinary and Ecological Sciences (IVES) at the University of Liverpool has an international reputation for the study of translating basic biology of pathogens to address global animal health problems, and Dr Andrew Jackson has a strong track record in genomic analysis of parasite surface proteins.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic molecular cell biologist to join our collaboration with the University of Iowa to characterise cell surface antigens of veterinary parasites, which will used to develop novel pen-side diagnostic tools for animal disease. You will examine the cellular location and role of novel, uncharacterised antigens already identified to assess their suitability for diagnosis and/or immunization.
You will be able to devise appropriate research strategies independently to establish the cell surface location and function of pathogen proteins using diverse molecular approaches of which you have experience.
This post will suit an ambitious scientist with a PhD in parasite cell biology, and is available until 31 May 2025 with the possibility of extension.
Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.
The University has the right to close the vacancy early if it is deemed that there have been enough applications received
