We invite applications for a Post-doctoral Research Associate in peptide chemistry, a key role in our BBSRC-funded project “AMPQuest.” This role involves developing antimicrobial peptides and collaborating with international teams from Canada and Germany, including a two-month exchange in Canada. Candidates should have strong experience in Fmoc chemistry-based peptide synthesis. The role offers a chance to refine expertise in peptide synthesis, assume leadership in peptide synthesis and screening, and contribute significantly to publications and grant applications. Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparation of reagents
- Automated synthesis of cellulose-based peptides using Fmoc strategy
- Cleavage and analysis of peptides
- Screening for antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities
- Contributing to grant and manuscript writing
- Teaching and supervising students as required
Person Specification:
- PhD in Peptide Chemistry/Synthesis (Essential)
- Experience in Solid Phase Peptide Synthesis using Fmoc chemistry (Essential)
- Knowledge/Skills in HPLC, mass spectrometry, and automated peptide synthesis (Essential)
- Previous experience in handling/screening bacteria and co-supervising students (Desirable)
- Proven track record of high-quality publications and grant writing (Desirable)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team (Essential)
- Willingness to travel for collaboration and work unsupervised (Essential)
