Post-doctoral Research Associate - MOVPE Growth and Porosification of Nitride Materials

The Cambridge Centre for Gallium Nitride, a part of the University of Cambridge's Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy, is at the forefront of nitride research and leads the nitride activity within the EPSRC National Epitaxy Facility.

Location: Cambridge Centre for Gallium Nitride, Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy, University of Cambridge

Responsibilities:

  • Explore relationships between materials fabrication, structure, and properties in porous nitrides

  • Tailor growth of epitaxial materials, particularly AlGaN, and electrochemical porosification to achieve novel or enhanced properties

  • Investigate a wide range of material properties, including optoelectronic and mechanical characteristics.

Requirements:

  • PhD or near completion in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field

  • Extensive experience in nitride crystal growth, preferably using MOVPE

  • Proficiency in various techniques for materials characterisation, including, but not limited to, scanning probe microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and electron microscopy

  • Ability to propose alternative approaches to the characterisation of porous nitride thin films

  • Skills in data presentation, both verbal and written

  • Commitment to collaborative and interdisciplinary research

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
