Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Air & Space Power

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in taking forward the new Freeman Air and Space Institute (FASI) in the School of Security Studies, King's College London. The post holder will be responsible for conducting original research and analysis of current and emerging air and space issues, and working with the Director and the Executive Director to chart and shape the evolution of FASI.

Examples of relevant subject matter include: air, space and cyber strategy, doctrine and operations; integrated air and missile defence; information advantage and future aerospace combat power; artificial intelligence and air/space operations; deterrence in the air and space domains; and the public-private dimensions of air and space policy and procurement.

In addition to conducting and publishing original research, a key element of the role will be working with the directors to co-ordinate FASI's research and capacity building activity related to air and space power.

The post holder should ideally have a PhD in a topic relevant to air & space power, although strong applications from candidates with PhDs on contemporary, non-air/space topics within the broader field of strategic studies will also be considered. Applicants who do not possess a PhD, or have not already submitted a dissertation for examination will not be considered.

The selection process will include a criteria based shortlisting process and panel based interview. Interviews will be held the week after the closing date
