Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate to join Dr Jenny Zhang's team at the Department of Chemistry on a project aimed at developing and characterising artificial photosynthetic cells that can carry out photochemistry for energy conversion.
The successful applicant will employ a range of biophysical approaches including zeta potential measurements, biomolecular self-assembly, and time-resolved spectroscopy for the characterisation and control of bioenergetics within protocells. They will be expected to work productively with multi-disciplinary teams.
Applicants should have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in chemistry, (bio)physics, or related disciplines. It is essential that the applicant can demonstrate expertise in biophysical techniques, with experience in biomolecular assembly (for example in membrane formation) or time-resolved spectroscopy highly desirable. The successful candidate will have a keen interest in biophysics and its application to green biotechnology, and enjoy working in an interdisciplinary environment.
