About the Role
We wish to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Post-Doctoral Research Assistant with experience in cancer biology and molecular data analysis to study children’s low-grade gliomas at The Blizard Institute, Queen Mary University of London. This three-year post is funded by The Brain Tumour Charity and is part of the international Everest Centre for Paediatric Low-Grade Brain Tumours: https://www.thebraintumourcharity.org/brain-tumour-diagnosis-treatment/child-brain-tumour-research/everest-centre/ .
Although the critical genetic alterations in these tumours are known to activate the MAPK/ERK signalling pathway, the exact molecular changes that regulate tumour behaviour and responses to targeted treatment need to be better understood. Using multi-omics profiling and kinase enrichment analysis, we have recently identified altered signalling networks in these tumours. The researcher will study the critical regulatory mechanisms within these networks and will determine their responses to targeted treatment using tumour models. For further information, applicants should contact Professor Denise Sheer at [email protected] .
About You
Applicants should have a PhD in cancer biology or a related field and must be enthusiastic about scientific research. Expertise in molecular biology, cell biology and statistical and bioinformatics analysis of large datasets is essential. Experience with multi-omics profiling and signal transduction analysis are an advantage.
About the Institute
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The Institute aims to deliver excellence in all aspects of research, teaching and clinical service.
