The Faculty of Media and Communication at Bournemouth University is one of the largest of its kind in the world and has a global reputation for combining research and teaching practice.  The Department of Media Production offers outstanding education, research, and industry-leading professional work. The National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA) is the leading centre for teaching production and research in computer animation and digital effects.

We are looking to recruit a research assistant to contribute to a research project investigating responsible AI in the context of media creation, focusing on collaboration, creativity, and representation, including concerns about copyright, job security and other ethical and legal challenges. The research is being led by an interdisciplinary team at Bournemouth University – Dr. Szilvia Ruszev, Dr. Maxine Gee, Dr. Melanie Stockton-Brown, Dr. Tom Davis, and Professor Xiaosong Yang. Collaboration partners are coming from University of Michigan–Ann Arbor (USA) and Zhejiang University (China). The research assistant will mainly manage the data gathering and evaluation based on the research events such as conducting online surveys, recording of talks, and discussions, transcription, editing of summary video, publication on BU micro site.

We are looking for a proactive, self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills, problem solving abilities, attention to detail and effective team-working skills. You will have expertise in Media Production (at least first level degree), including an advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. Knowledge in one or more of the following areas is desired: Artificial Intelligence, animation, law, qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.

This post is available on a fixed term basis for 6 months (15 hours per week).

This position does not meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker Route within the UK Visa and Immigration service’s Points Based System .  Therefore, BU will not be able to sponsor individuals who require permission to work to carry out this position.
