The School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh invites applications for the position of Research Associate in programming language/compiler technology. This position is associated with the DARPA Software Defined Hardware 9SDH0 project which aims to reconfigure hardware to match dynamic workloads.

SDH is a collaborative project with the U. Michigan, Arizona State University and ARM. It has developed a coarse grain reconfigurable processor, Transmuter, aimed at state of the art energy-delay performance. Edinburgh has developed a complete Python software stack and the research aim of the project is to dynamically reconfigure software and hardware for a variety of workloads including: machine learning, graph analytics, sparse linear algebra and optimisation.

The positions are for 18 months initially, but there is an opportunity to extend. There is significant freedom to pursue independent research ideas.
