Summary of the role

The Engineering and Direct Works department is responsible for a significant proportion of the technical management of the University’s Estate. Its Energy team manage; the multi million pound budget for the supply of gas, water and electricity; the Low Carbon Commitment Implementation Plan to ensure the University is on track to meet its carbon reduction targets; the University’s revolving green energy projects and set and deliver the Sustainable Travel Plan.  The dedicated in house maintenance team provides in and out of hours planned and reactive maintenance to what is effectively Devon’s tenth largest, and independently run town.

Reporting to the Mechanical Team Leader, you will be a member of the operational team working alongside other maintenance operatives in the Electrical, Mechanical, Building and Structural Services.

We are looking for a customer focused team player who can work alone, or in a team and be able to use initiative to prioritise work demands and meet deadlines. The successful candidate will have served a recognised plumbing apprenticeship to NVQ level 3 or be time served, have WRAS and unvented G3 certification.

The successful candidate will also have experience in all the relevant health and safety legislation. 

At present the working pattern is a four day week (9.13hrs per day) over a five week rota - Monday – Friday
