Working shift pattern:

36.5 Hrs P/W over a 4-day week and 5 week rota (9.125 Hrs per day).

Early Shift 08:00 to 18:00 (3 per week)

Late Shift 10:00 to 20:00 (1 per week)

Please note there are no weekend shifts.

Summary of the role   

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Plumbing / Multi skilled Engineer to work across the University of Exeter Estate. The operative should have training, qualification, and experience in general Plumbing works in commercial premises.

The role is part of a large in-house Team carrying out Planned Maintenance and Repair works across Campus over a 4 day week 5 week working rota. Additional Callout Allowance available once up to speed and knowledgeable on the University Estate.

Reporting to the Mechanical Team Leader, you will be a member of the operational team working alongside other maintenance operatives in the Electrical, Mechanical, and Building & Structural Services.

About You  

You will:

  • have served a recognised Plumbing or apprenticeship
  • hold City & Guilds or NVQ 1/2/3 or be time served
  • have a good working knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and standards, (i.e., Electricity at Work Act, Manual Handling, and Working at Heights, COSHH and HSAWA)
  • be required to liaise directly with University staff of all levels, and therefore a polite and calm disposition is essential
  • have a flexible and willing attitude and the ability to relate and build a good relationship with colleagues
  • have the ability to work on own initiative and be able to prioritise work demands and meet strict deadlines
