Pharmaceutical Lecturer

Updated: 18 days ago
Location: City of Leicester, ENGLAND

About the role

The University of Leicester, School of Healthcare, is planning to start a unique and class-leading MPharm program from September 2024 which will fully prepare our graduates for the foundation year and expectations to train as an independent pharmacist prescriber.
With 40 weeks of experiential learning embedded within the MPharm program and working in close partnership with both national and local providers, the University of Leicester MPharm is fully focused on the creation of patient-centred pharmacists equipped with the requisite scientific knowledge to enable evidence based professional practice and decision making. Located within a multi-professional School of Healthcare and alongside a leading School of Medicine, opportunities for multi-professional working and learning for both staff and students are exceptional. In line with all of our other healthcare professional programs, the course will be 'led by pharmacists, taught by pharmacists and delivered for pharmacists'.
This post is advertised at an exciting time, with our first students planned for arrival within the next 12 months.  All University of Leicester pharmacy lecturers will be employed to not just support program development, set up and delivery but also to operate as a role model for our MPharm students and to inspire them to become engaged members of the pharmacy profession.  Consequently, we support pharmacist appointees to maintain their practice through the provision of one clinical session a week with a pharmacist employer and encourage regular engagement with regional and local professional networks and activities.
The post holder will have opportunities to develop and supervise a small number of key lab classes; supervise 4th year research projects and teach material from across a range of pharmaceutical science subjects and topics and develop skills in team, case and problem based learning techniques.

About you

We are looking for an individual who holds an MPharm degree at 2:1 or above with previous experience of teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational, interpersonal and presentation skills alongside a high level of proficiency in English, sufficient to undertake research, teaching and administrative activities.

This post provides an excellent opportunity for a pharmaceutical scientist to develop their education and training skills, whilst joining a dynamic and expanding pharmacy team at the University of Leicester. Whilst embedded in an expanding the MPharm team, the post holder will be expected to largely work autonomously and independently to lead own tasks and meet academic and professional goals.
