This is for two permanent, full-time positions.

Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) is located on a beautifully green and pleasant campus just a few minutes’ walk from Lincoln Cathedral, Castle, and the old Roman city. Our story began in the 1860s as an Anglican teacher training college for women, which makes us one of the oldest Higher Education Institutions in the UK. Since then, we've grown, adapted, and modernised to become the thriving university we are today. We're still experts in teaching and education, but we've now got a wider portfolio of exciting degree courses than ever before. We currently offer causes in a wide range of subjects, from Undergraduate Degree level to PhD, and much more in between.

In response to the growth of our higher and degree apprenticeship provision, Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) is seeking further Apprenticeship Support Officers to support this key area of activity within the University as part of a quickly growing team and provision.

The post holder will manage a caseload of apprentices and coordinate support, including the management of review meetings, onboarding and ILP completion and employer engagement. Within this area you will also coordinate and deliver Functional Skills in line with the Apprenticeship Standard and Pearson Edexcel requirements.  You will work with staff from across the University to ensure the highest quality apprenticeship experience from the point of application through to graduation.  You will ensure ESFA eligibility is established at the point of admission alongside completion of the initial assessment and individual training plan.   You will then work with apprentices, employers, academic staff and wider BGU staff to ensure comprehensive support for the development of knowledge, skills and behaviours though delivery of off and on the job training. You will then coordinate the preparations and administration of gateway and wider end-point assessment requirements.

To be successful in the role you will have a drive and determination to succeed and put the needs of apprentice students and employers’ at the core of your support activities.   You will have experience of delivering mentoring, support and workshops to students within a work-based learning/apprenticeship setting whilst balancing the demands of employers, regulators and funding bodies.  You will be innovative and creative with exceptional communication and negotiating skills.  You will be experienced and proactive whilst being and able to work well under pressure. The ability/experience to deliver one or more Functional Skills discipline would be advantageous.

BGU offers a generous employee benefits package including:

  • 25 days holiday for Grades 1-6
  • 35 days holiday for Grades 7+
  • Plus 3 additional discretionary days annual leave over the Christmas period
  • Various pension scheme options including a Teachers Pension scheme offering up to 23.68% Employer Contribution, and BG Flex (a private pension scheme managed by Aviva) offering a 10% employer contribution and the employee contributions are voluntary and flexible.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Electric Car Salary Sacrifice Scheme
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme including face to face counselling sessions
  • Agile Working Scheme to support employees work-life balance
