This is an exciting time to join our creative, ambitious and inclusive People and Organisation Development team as a People Services Team Leader in the People Services Advice Team.  You will assist us in providing a comprehensive and proactive HR service to members of the university community. You will work as part of a collaborative team, supporting each other by working together in line with our university values. About this role

This is a permanent People Services Team Leader role working with a variety of stakeholders in a fast paced, friendly, and supportive environment. 

The role of People Services Team Leader is to support the delivery of an efficient, legally compliant, timely, accurate and proactive query-handling advice service. This will include robust and supportive case management of routine employee relations cases and issues (i.e. absence, probation and conduct) in collaboration with managers across UWE.

As the HR Service Delivery Team Leader you will support a team of People Services Assistants and co-ordinate workload across the People Services Advice Team. The team is the first point of contact for HR policy process, procedure and advice on a wide range of employment related issues. The cover is provided on a flexible rota basis and this role will also provide cover as necessary. The team is also responsible for making contractual changes across university systems, some of which is cyclical payroll related data input, this role will be key to supporting the People Services Team Manager to deliver an effective service to our university community. You will also work with the People Services Team Manager to support a team of People Services Advisors, who work with our employees and managers on HR casework and complex queries.

About you

You don’t have to have worked in Higher Education to apply for this role, but you will possess experience of effectively managing complex queries and employee relations caseloads in an HR environment within a large, complex organisation.  You will also have experience in supporting, coaching and mentoring colleagues, looking for innovative ways in which we can provide a comprehensive service to our community. 

You have experience of working in a busy team and working collaboratively towards common goals, ensuring workload is managed effectively within the team. You are looking to enhance your own personal learning and development, as well as supporting the development of those around you. 

You understand the importance of confidentiality and you are a constructive, positive communicator who is capable of building rapport and confidence across a wide range of stakeholders.

We are looking to recruit to the role on a part time or full time, permanent basis. We are able to accept applications from candidates wishing to work a minimum of 26 hours per week, and we can also consider applications from candidates wishing to work more hours than this, up to the full time maximum of 37 hours per week.    If you’re keen to apply on a part time basis, we’d be grateful if you could add information to your application to let us know.

Our roles are frontline support roles, and you will be supporting a telephone, phone and in-person HR Helpline which opens at 8.30am and closes at 5.00pm (4.30pm on Friday).  For candidates wishing to work part time, we are likely to seek  to include Fridays within an agreed working pattern.
