The above full-time post is available immediately until March 2024 with the National Institute for Health and Care Research Applied Research Collaboration South West Peninsula (PenARC) (https://arc-swp.nihr.ac.uk/ ) and based at the University of Exeter Medical School in the College of Medicine and  Health (http://medicine.exeter.ac.uk ). The post is available full-time but other working patterns will be considered.

The Post

The College wishes to recruit a Mental Health Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the work of PenARC and the PenARC Peninsula Mental Health Research Initiative (PenMHRI) Team. You will work alongside the PenMHRI team to build relationships and connections with local mental health services and public collaborators, with a view to developing research partnerships.

The PenMHRI has the following objectives and the you will support the team to meet these:

Objective 1: To work with Mental Health services and people with lived experience to identify and prioritise key evidence gaps.

Objective 2: To produce high quality Mental Health research to serve populations with the highest needs. 

Objective 3: To increase the skills and capacity of staff within local services, the voluntary sector and universities to generate and use evidence.

Objective 4: To work with partners to facilitate service improvement based on research evidence.

Objective 5: To improve Mental Health outcomes within our region

About you (Graduate Research Assistant)

The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will be educated to first degree level or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.

About you (Postdoctoral Research Associate)

The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will possess a relevant PhD (or be nearing completion) or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes.

We welcome applications from candidates with lived experience of mental health services and those interested in working part-time hours or job-sharing arrangements.
