Location: 3 Worcester Street, Oxford OX1 2BX
Peer Support Trainer, 15 hours per week worked over two days (Monday & Tuesday compulsory working days), term time only, permanent contract.
Peer Support Training & supervisions take place in person therefore a blended working model is not possible for this role.
About the role
Peer Support Training consists of 8 three-hour sessions and continues through regular supervision after the structured training has ended. Skills learned through training include being a good listener, helping others to feel more comfortable with social, academic and personal relationships and managing and communicating about sensitive issues.
The post holder will be responsible for delivery of training and supervisions to institutional members (including colleges, departments and divisions), as agreed with the Peer Support Programme Service Lead across the academic year.
The post holder will liaise with the Department Link Person with regards to recruitment of those to be trained and on any welfare, issues where needed and will work together with an expanding group of trainers to support the Peer Support Programme Service Lead in ensuring consistency and quality of delivery, including attendance and student engagement.
The post holder will provide regular information to administrative staff and the Peer Support Programme Service Lead in order to ensure that financial matters relating to the Programme are accurate and up to date.
About you
Candidates should be able to demonstrate
- Substantial experience of delivery training, therapeutic groups or psychoeducational workshops
- Knowledge and understanding of the welfare and mental health support needs of students
- Substantial experience of working in mental health and/or clinically in counselling, psychotherapy, counselling psychology or clinical psychology
- Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team, to self-motivate and motive others
- You will have the ability to take an active part in the educational and developmental role of the Programme and in particular to be able to make complex theoretical concepts accessible to a student audience.
- Experience of using MS Office, MS Outlook or equivalent for email and calendar and MS Teams or equivalent for chat, video/audio calls and file storage/sharing and applying technology to improve working practices
