30 hours per week, term time only, permanent contract - will consider part-time posts to cover 4 days per week; minimum one day per week.

We are looking to recruit part-time Peer Support Trainers who will work together with the Peer Support Programme Manager and the Peer Support Programme Team to provide training and supervision in accordance with the guidelines of the Peer Support Programme.

You will have experience of working in mental health and/or clinically in counselling, psychotherapy, counselling psychology or clinical psychology and experience of delivering training, therapeutic groups or psychoeducational workshops. You will have the ability to take an active part in the educational and developmental role of the Programme and in particular to be able to make complex theoretical concepts accessible to a student audience.

Training and supervision is delivered by a team who are all counsellors, psychotherapists or psychologists, and is led by Dr Tim Knowlson, Peer Support Programme Manager.

Peer Support Training consists of 8 three-hour sessions and continues through regular supervision after the structured training has ended. Skills learned through training include being a good listener, helping others to feel more comfortable with social, academic and personal relationships and managing and communicating about sensitive issues.
