A unique opportunity for a successful applicant to undertake research at the intersection of academia and industry to develop novel imaging technologies using bicyclic peptides. The UKRI Innovate UK funded Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) is a collaboration between Cambridge University and Bicycle Therapeutics (BicycleTx).

Based at BicycleTx, Cambridge UK, in collaboration with the Spring Group at the University of Cambridge, the successful applicant will contribute to achieve the KTP's objectives to develop and transfer knowledge as well as techniques required to develop new imaging technologies.

The KTP Associate will be an employee of the University of Cambridge but will spend most of their working time at BicycleTx`s premises at Granta Park, Great Abington, Cambridge, CB21 6GS and when required at the University of Cambridge. The contract is a fixed term for a duration of 30 months.

Qualifications PhD (or final stages of completion) in Chemistry, Biochemistry or closely related field

Key Tasks:

  • On boarding, familiarisation with the company and university
  • Creation of a detailed plan and complete a mini project
  • Design, synthesis, purification and analysis of chemically modified bicyclic peptides
  • Phage display using BicycleTx's proprietary technology
  • Assay development and implementation
  • Determination of pharmacokinetic parameters
  • Disseminate and embed developed knowledge within BicycleTx to various stakeholders throughout the KTP via reports, presentations, group discussions, workshops and staff training
  • Present findings to stakeholders prepare and complete full documentation
  • Disseminate research via scientific publications and conferences

Appointment at the Research Associate level is dependent on the award of a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at the Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the award of the PhD has been confirmed. The salary range for a Research Associate is £36,024-£44,263 pa.
