We are recruiting a Payroll Team Leader to join and lead our busy payroll team. You will need experience in processing Payroll and be able to support the team with queries. Using our iTrent system, you will be responsible for producing the monthly reports to enable checking, reconciling and submitting of all monthly payrolls including Year To Date (YTD), HMRC files and elements by employees.

You will manage the deduction and reconciliation of benefit elements within the payrolls, such as Childcare Vouchers, Cycle to Work and Bus Pass deductions. You will also oversea the process and maintain records for Attachment of Earnings Orders, Student Loan repayments and Court Orders as required, along with the collation and recording of absence data and the calculation and payment of Occupational and Statutory Sick Pay in accordance with appropriate legislation and University Policy and Procedures.

Whilst managing the team of Specialist Payroll Advisors, you will be responsible for prioritising workloads, ensuring the effective payroll administration across the Group, including all relevant information is correctly captured, specifically regarding information required for RTI.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience of managing a team
  • Experience using iTrent system
  • CIPP Qualified or BTEC Level 3 in Payroll or equivalent experience
  • Experience of working with a complex payroll service within a large organisation
  • Experience of working in an integrated HR and payroll environment
  • Demonstratable experience of motivating staff and working collaboratively across departments
  • Working knowledge of all payroll work, including thorough working knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, SSP, SMP, SAP.
  • Expert knowledge of Auto-enrolment, Re Auto-Enrolment guidance and HMRC regulations surrounding pensions.
  • Able to perform manual calculations with reference to Tax tables
  • Knowledge and understanding of legislation and regulation governing payroll administration

This role is office based and will be required to cover office hours between 8:00 - 18:00 Monday to Friday.
