Part-time Teaching Associate for Economics of Public Policy

Updated: about 1 month ago
Location: Oxford, ENGLAND
Deadline: 24 Feb 2020

The Blavatnik School of Government is seeking to recruit a Teaching Associate to join the teaching team for the Economics of Public Policy; a compulsory module within the School’s Master in Public Policy (MPP).

This is a unique opportunity for postdoctoral researchers, college lecturers, and final-year doctoral students to gain valuable teaching experience at a graduate level within a friendly, dynamic and world-class school of public policy. You will have the opportunity to engage with highly motivated students drawn from across the world who bring a range of professional and policy experiences, often at senior levels.

This is a part-time post, 0.4 FTE. However, the duties are heavily concentrated into the 8 weeks of Michaelmas Term, during which time the post is essentially full-time. As a Teaching Associate, you would be expected to: assist with co-convening the module; undertake a small amount of lecturing; convene and lead seminars; and contribute to assessment and examination.

The successful candidate will have sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge in the subject to develop module materials, and a relevant Master’s degree. You should have excellent communication and organizational skills, along with previous teaching experience. An ability to relate theoretical issues to applied policy problems, and deliver teaching to a non-economist audience are essential.

For further details of the post, please refer to the full job description below.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Monday 24 February 2020. We plan to hold interviews week commencing 16 March 2020.
