We are looking for two suitably qualified and experienced Strength and Conditioning Coaches to deliver an excellence service to teams and athletes who are selected to be part of the University of Oxford's high performance sport support service.
The Strength and Conditioning Coaches will be responsible for planning, designing, delivering and reviewing strength and conditioning programmes, underpinned by sound scientific knowledge, for teams and individual athletes. As part of this role you will work alongside colleagues in the sports services team and specialists from other areas of sports science to successfully provide a holistic athletic development service to Oxford's student athletes.
Working as part of the Sports Federation team, you will provide the highest level of service to selected University sports teams and individual students through the Blues Performance Scheme (BPS), the University's high performance sport support service. Support offered through the BPS incorporates strength and conditioning, sport psychology and sports nutrition; with other administrative assistance being provided by the wider Sports Federation team.
You will have experience of planning, designing, delivering and reviewing strength and conditioning programmes for teams and individual athletes. It is desirable that you will also be a 'UKSCA Accredited Strength & Conditioning Coach' (or be working towards this with the ability to achieve within 6 months).
Role 1 - Part-time Strength and Conditioning Coach (0.82 FTE): This 30 hours per week annualised contract is expected to be weighted to 36.5 hours (1.0 full-time) during the academic term with a lighter work schedule during vacation periods. The role will be predominantly delivery based (20 - 25 hours) which will include some evening and unsociable hours work. Other non-delivery work time will be distributed between planning/reviewing programmes, communicating with partner bodies and other administrative tasks associated with the upkeep of a professional strength and conditioning facility.
Role 2 - Part-time Strength and Conditioning Coach (0.27 FTE): This 15 hours per week term-time only contract is expected to be delivered during 30 weeks each year (academic terms plus week(s) preceding and following each term). The role will be predominantly delivery based (9 - 12 hours per week) with other work time distributed between planning/reviewing programmes, communicating with partner bodies and other administrative tasks associated with the upkeep of a professional strength and conditioning facility. It is essential for applicants to this role to be able to work weekends, evenings and unsociable hours.
Both posts are on fixed-term contracts for 2 years.
If you have any queries or would like to arrange an informal discussion regarding these roles, please contact Tom Walton (Head Strength and Conditioning Coach) using the email address below.
All applications must be made online. You will be required to upload a supporting statement and your CV as part of your online application. Please indicate in your supporting statement whether you wish to be considered for one specific role or both.
Only applications received before 12.00 noon on Monday 24 June 2019 will be considered. Interviews will take place on Thursday 4 July and Friday 5 July 2019.
