Palaeoceanography Research Technician

About the role

A Palaeoceanography Research Technician (Earth Scientist) is sought to provide technical support for the SwitchBEAT project, within the School of Geography, Geology and the Environment. As part of SwitchBEAT, a small team is looking at the impact of ice volume on the climate response to astronomical forcing over the last 40 Million years. Within this team, the Palaeoceanography Research Technician's main duties will include preparing samples for micropalaeontological, geochemical or sedimentological analysis for the SwitchBEAT project. They will also be responsible for providing general laboratory support for the palaeoceanography lab in SGGE. You will be expected to work independently, as well as with other members of the SwitchBEAT/palaeoceanography team. 


About you
The Palaeoceanography Research Technician will join the palaeoceanography group led by Dr A.J. Drury, who is PI of the SwitchBEAT project. They will be part of the Centre for Palaeobiology and Biosphere Evolution, which brings together researchers across the University interested in the evolution of Earth's biosphere and climate.
