The University of Reading is seeking to appoint a new Packaging & Application Engineer to join our continually expanding Packaging & Application team. The Packaging & Application team are responsible for delivering the software requirements across the University and this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real impact to the student and staff teaching and learning experience and support the academic and administrative functions of the University. 

You will have:

  • Experience in at least one of the following software packaging and deployment tools: SCCM, InTune or AppsAnywhere.
  • Troubleshooting skills: be able to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to software packaging, deployment, and compatibility.
  • Knowledge of Desktop Imaging: Microsoft Windows operating system and application software.
  • Experience in creating technical documentation: Maintaining accurate documentation of the packaging and configuration of applications following best practices.
  • Proven ability to prioritise competing and complex work demands with good team working ability.
  • Effective communication skills, enabling you to work well within a team, liaise with vendors and key stakeholders.

The Packaging & Application team are responsible for the packaging and deployment of applications for staff and students, utilising tools like SCCM, InTune and AppsAnywhere.

As a team member you will be packaging applications using your skills and expertise to ensure that the applications meet the configuration, requirements, and demands of the University, as well as thoroughly testing these in different environments to ensure compatibility, reliability, and functionality so that they can be deployed successfully.

You'll work effectively within the team, and also with a wide range of staff across the University, honing your exceptional communication skills as you collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure that every application is meeting the needs of our communities. And with a high attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure, you'll thrive in a fast-paced environment where every day brings new challenges and opportunities.
