Updated: about 1 month ago
Location: Oxford, ENGLAND
Job Type: PartTime
Deadline: 24 Mar 2024

This is an exciting opportunity for registered nurses and midwives to join an established team of examiners representing all fields of Nursing and Midwifery working in the Oxford Brookes University Test of Competence Centre. We offer flexible full and part-time working opportunities and weekend working if desired. You will have a full induction and training  programme and as a member of Oxford Brookes University staff you will have access to the benefits provided to Brookes employees. The contract will initially be until February 2025 with a likely extension.

The Nursing and  Midwifery Council (NMC) Test of Competence is approved to be conducted in three universities in the UK. These are Oxford Brookes University, Ulster University and the University of Northampton.

The approved Test Centre provides Part two of the NMC’s Test of Competence for international nurses and midwives seeking registration with the NMC. Part two is a nursing or midwifery Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).

The Test Centre is one unit operating over two sites. We have one centre in Oxford on the Marston road campus and a second test centre at the Swindon campus. We currently run OSCES Monday-Friday in Swindon and Monday-Friday in Oxford.

The OSCE will simulate a clinical environment and “patient” scenarios which registered nurses and midwives are likely to encounter when they assess, plan, implement and evaluate care. Candidates are expected to utilise a contemporary evidence base and effectively demonstrate safe practical application of nursing and midwifery skills. The Test of Competence is blueprinted against the current UK pre-registration standards and these standards are available on the NMC’s website.
