NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturers in General Adult Psychiatry

Both posts combine clinical and research training in general adult psychiatry. The successful applicants will be supported by the Centre for Academic Mental Health to develop their own independent programmes of research.

The two successful applicants will combine completing their clinical training in general adult psychiatry, working towards CCT (50%), with academic training in psychiatry, working towards developing their own programmes of research and applying for Advanced Fellowships (50%).

The posts are for a maximum of four years, or until CCT is reached, whichever is the sooner. NIHR may approve an extension post-CCT provided they are within the 4 year’s funding for the award.

You have completed core training or are eligible for higher specialist training in general adult psychiatry in the UK at ST4 level or above.

You have completed, or submitted, a higher degree by research by the time of applying for the post (PhD or MD or equivalent), which must have been awarded by the time of taking up the post (1st September 2024 at the latest).

You are motivated to continue clinical academic training in psychiatry.

Contract type: Fixed term, annually renewable basis for a period of up to 4 years or until CCT, whichever occurs first

Work pattern: Full time/ 1.0 FTE (part time considered)

Grade: Clinical grades

Salary: We will mirror the successful applicants’ NHS pay and progression including transitional pay arrangement

School/Unit: Bristol Medical School

Shift pattern: To be arranged
