Applications are invited for a 3-year post-doctoral research position in Cardiovascular Genomics and Precision Medicine at Imperial College London. The research group spans the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS) and National Heart and Lung Institute at Imperial College London, and the Cardiovascular Division of Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals. The post will be primarily based at the LMS on the Hammersmith Hospital campus, which provides an outstanding environment for interdisciplinary research with excellent core support. For a description of the institute and details of core facilities, visit www.lms.mrc.ac.uk . We are looking for a talented computational biologist, with experience in human genetics (preferably including both common and rare disease genetics), to join our Cardiovascular Genetics & Genomics team. Our research is aimed at understanding the genetic basis of cardiovascular disease, with a focus on inherited heart muscle diseases. The post-holder will be embedded in a well-established bioinformatics team and will use genomic data (whole genome sequencing / targeted sequencing / SNP array) to study the genetic architecture of inherited cardiomyopathies in human populations.
Applicants will have a PhD in computational biology, statistical genetics, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent research, industrial or commercial experience, and will be skilled in bioinformatics. The successful applicant will join a vibrant group, led by Dr James Ware. The group has a track record of excellence and innovation in cardiovascular genetics and computational genomics, with numerous publications in top-tier journals and extensive international collaboration (e.g. de Marvao et al JACC 2021; Tadros et al Nat Genet 2021; Karczewski et al Nature 2020; Whiffin et al Nat Comms 2020).
